A photo that was found by police in Romania could help reunite a family with stolen valuables and hold the key to an international crime operation.

The discovery was made by Romanian law enforcement who are investigating an alleged burglary gang, believed to have been active across the UK – in particular the Midlands – as well as Western Europe.

Following a warrant at a house in Vaslui county two weeks ago officers are now appealing for help.

“In the course of their enquiries colleagues in Romania have found a large amount of property including watches, jewellery, silverware and two distinctive items which we believe originate from the UK.”

The first is a picture of a woman and two children and the second is a note that says:

“Richard – July 18th ‘95

To wake you up and so come home safely, love Mum and Dad. The Global Virgin Challenge.”
