New fire station takes shape
The state-of-the-art fire station on Eastgate will replace the existing station on Church Lane, which has been operational since 1952. It will house Sleaford’s whole-time firefighters who are part of the county’s Urban Search and Rescue response, and the town’s on-call firefighters. The site will include office space for council staff from the Riverside offices.
The £6m project could take up to 52 weeks to complete, expected to be fully operational by May 2017. It is mainly funded by the sale of the old fire station and the county council’s Riverside site.
