Hide AdProsecuting, Mark Hughes said Green admitted the theft of three cases of lager from Asda, saying he was a ‘chronic alcoholic’.
But in committing the offence, Green was also in breach of a suspended prison sentence, imposed by Sheffield Crown Court last month.
District Judge Jonathan Taaffe said the case should go back to the crown court for a judge to decide whether the sentence should be activated.
A date will be fixed for Green to re-appear at Sheffield Crown Court. In the meantime he was released on bail, with a condition to comply with an alcohol treatment programme.
